- Wheat flour 100 g for bedding
- Water 210 ml
- Salt 1/2 tsp
- Refined sunflower oil 2 tbsp
How to cook lavash in Armenian in a pan? Sift the wheat flour into a wide bowl. Pour refined vegetable oil into it and mix with a spatula.
We heat the water well, but not to a boil. In the already heated water, stir the salt. Pour it into a hole made in the center of the flour laid out. Spoon the flour gradually into the water.
When the dough has already been separated from the bowl, move it to a flat surface, sprinkled with flour, and continue the process of kneading with your hands for at least 10 minutes. We do not add flour anymore.
When mixing, we stretch the dough and, wrapping one layer on another, leave air between the layers. With them, the dough will be more airy. Wrap the finished dough in a plastic bag or cling film. Let it stand for about 30 minutes.
We form a sausage from the dough and cut it into 14 pieces. We roll the balls from the pieces and cover them with a towel on the board so that the pieces do not wind off.
Roll out our slices of dough on a surface sprinkled with flour. Roll out thinly. You can use as a template a plate no larger than a pan in which we will fry pita bread.
To prevent round billets from drying out, sprinkle them with flour, which we shake off before frying.
We fry without oil in a well-heated pan, reducing the heat to medium. We fry each side no more than 30-40 seconds. We add the fried pita bread to a dish and sprinkle with cold boiled water from a spray bottle. And on both sides. A pile of pita bread is covered with a cotton towel.
The cooled pita bread is placed in a plastic bag. Can be stored in the freezer if there is still a lot of time before the event. Enjoy your appetite and inspiration for using such a delicious, porous and layered pita bread!
